The Inner Circle

The Inner Circle

Want to see the inner workings of the Women's Weekend Film Challenge while meeting like-minded women in film and lending a hand? Come to our next Inner Circle meeting, an informal gathering where we'll discuss what's happening with the Women's Weekend Film Challenge and where we can use some extra hands! You'll have the opportunity to volunteer for a variety of events, tasks and more, depending on what interests you most and how many hours you have to donate.

Internships

Internships

Are you passionate about gender equality, especially in film and television? Are you looking for college credit, or a fantastic way to strengthen your resume? These internships are approximately 15 hours a week and are unpaid. You will be working alongside the directors of this organization at our home office in Astoria, Queens as well as from your home occasionally.

Development Intern - Spring 2020

​

Do you want to gain experience in fundraising to prepare you for a career in startups, nonprofits or filmmaking?

 

As a development (fundraising) intern, you’ll learn how to pinpoint potential sponsors and how to best approach them. You’ll gain tools to find and follow leads for various funding sources and use your new skills to help grow WWFC.

 

An average day at your internship might include:

  • adding to our spreadsheet of potential sponsors and grants

  • sleuthing out the best person to pitch to at various companies

  • drafting cold emails to potential sponsors

  • using Canva to design social media posts to incentivize donors

  • brainstorming incentives for sponsors and donors

  • using Canva to design pitch decks

 

You’ll leave with tools that come in handy if you start a business in the future, raise money for an indie film, work in development at a nonprofit, or work in corporate social responsibility at a larger company.

Communications Intern - Spring 2020

 

Do you want to gain tools for a future career in marketing, press or social media?

 

Women’s Weekend Film Challenge (WWFC) is a grassroots women-in-film initiative that provides intensive networking experiences for professional filmmakers while telling women’s stories on film, with women behind and in front of the camera. As a communications intern, you’ll help get the word out about our organization to filmmakers, reporters, potential donors, and more.

 

An average day at your internship might include:

  • putting together an email newsletter via MailChimp

  • writing a press release about an upcoming event

  • scheduling Facebook, Instagram and Twitter posts via Hootsuite

  • communicating with our past participants to collect success stories that we can promote

  • researching and reaching out to podcasts that might want to highlight WWFC

  • posting Instagram stories at a WWFC event

 

You’ll leave with tools that come in handy if you plan on marketing your own film in the future, starting your own business, working in marketing or running a brand’s social media accounts.

Outreach Intern - Spring 2020

 

Are you great at making connections and promoting causes you believe in?

 

As an outreach intern, you’ll help get the word out about our organization to conferences, professional groups, colleges and high schools that can bring WWFC co-directors in for speaking engagements and workshops.

 

An average day at your internship might include:

  • researching speaking opportunities

  • drafting cold emails to conferences, professional groups, colleges and high schools

  • using Canva to design pitch decks

  • strategizing alongside our outreach director

 

You’ll leave with tools that will come in handy if you’re hoping to start your own business in the future or if you’re going into a creative career where you’ll need to find your own opportunities, such as acting or writing. You’ll also gain sales and promotional skills that will help you in almost any industry.
